Buffalo Studio is an affordable, Windows based, desktop GIS application, which enables users to make use of functional capabilities such as data creation, modification, analysis, and visualization.

Buffalo Studio is fed its core functionality by the Buffalo Framework, which is common to the Buffalo Web Server as well as Buffalo Enterprise Services applications. Datasets can be added or created natively from Buffalo Studio, in various industry standard formats.

The visualization capabilities of Buffalo Studio allow users to view and explore data either in its original state, thematically, or based on attribute queries. Buffalo Studio is rich in features which provide access to both basic and advanced GIS operations, with minimal user effort required.

Buffalo Studio contains industry standard basic tools such as zoom, pan, and editing. The advanced nature of Buffalo Studios editing tools will allow users to create, modify, remove, or edit attributes of any spatial records. Buffalo Studio also has advanced editing features, such as split, merge, dissolve, union, clip, as well as node editing.
Other useful features include:

The ability to create topology rules, and enforce them during edit sessions. This minimizes arduous cleanup operations at later stages.
Advanced data searching for both spatial and non spatial attribute information, the latter of which is based on SQL methodology. Data which is retrieved by these search operations can be exported in excel format for use in other applications if necessary.
Advanced spatial analysis can be carried out, current functionality allows for Buffer and Convex Hull analysis.
Buffalo Studio contains many tools which make work easier for the end user, such as exporting to GeoPDF , which can be used to create attribute containing maps. These maps are like portable GIS, as they allow for panning, zooming, identifying of features and attributes, as well as searching
The layer manager allows for easy modification of symbology and labels, as well as field availability, to create an enhanced cartographic experience. There is also a pattern builder to ensure that symbols can be customized to user specific requirements.

Maps which are created in Buffalo Studio can be easily published for use by Buffalo Web Server, to be disseminated by either internal office personnel (on a LAN) or accessed by the public (on the internet).
