| The Buffalo Enterprise Services system consists of two major components, the Global catalog, and the Buffalo Enterprise Service. The Global Catalog is a central repository of spatial data which is acquired from multiple sources, with its related metadata. The Global catalog supports the storage of multiple versions of datasets, and will provide notification to users when new datasets are available, and allow the user to request downloading of the data, subject to acceptance of an End User License Agreement (EULA). The Buffalo Enterprise Service is a highly advanced data source management application, which enables access management of datasets, based on privileges defined for various groups and users within an enterprise-wide GIS environment. It allows the administrator of the enterprise to configure groups and users, granting or denying them access to specific datasets. Data access privileges can be set down to field level, to ensure that certain groups only have edit or read access to certain fields in any dataset. The Enterprise service is also used to publish and view maps on a Buffalo Web Server application within the Enterprise. The administrator of the Enterprise service can browse through and download data from the Global catalog as required, and the Enterprise service can be configured to check for and download updates via a synchronization connection to the Global Catalog. |
